Wind Energy Industry Meets Premier Kathleen Wynne during CanWEA 2013 Annual Conference and Exhibition
Toronto, Ontario – October 9, 2013 – A wind energy industry delegation led by Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) president Robert Hornung met with Premier Kathleen Wynne today to discuss wind energy in Ontario, and to review the CanWEA submission to the long-term energy plan review being undertaken by the Government of Ontario.
President Robert Hornung reminded the Premier of the significant economic and environmental contributions that wind energy has made in the province and the increasing attractiveness of wind energy as a viable solution to helping the province meet future energy needs.
“Ontario has a broad range of options for new electricity generation, yet few match the requirement for affordability, economic development potential, environmental sustainability, diversification, reliability and rate base value as compellingly as wind energy,” Hornung said. “We believe the wind energy industry has a strong case to make for significant new procurement of wind energy by the province that will help the province meet a number of important clean energy, employment and economic development priorities.”
