The International Association for Public Participation and Peter Sandman PhD, a world renowned researcher and expert in risk communication, have developed a two-day workshop on how to use public participation to manage controversy and conflict. This session includes ten solid strategies that will help you to move your stakeholders from rage to reason, giving you the chance to frame issues constructively, build understanding, reduce tension and point towards consensus.
This is a practical, hands-on, practical workshop with fresh mix of video, small and large group discussions and authentic, real world exercises that give you the answers, tools and ability to prevent problems, manage the tough public issues you face and keep your organization on track and moving forward.

The International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certificate Program in Public Participation is intended to provide a broad-based learning experience for all the foundations of public participation. Developed in consultation with practitioners from around the world, the training provides useful tools and techniques for designing and implementing effective public participation (P2) programs. These are presented in an interactive and experiential learning environment that provides participants with opportunities to explore, their own P2 challenges Upon completion of each module, participants receive credit from IAP2 recognizing their successful completion of that module. Upon completion of all three modules, participants are awarded a Certificate in Public Participation from IAP2. More information about the certification program is available at: www.IAP2.org.
